A Very Successful Hoedown for Haiti
We are incredibly grateful to have had an awesome 10th annual Hoedown for Haiti this year! After a very successful online silent auction, we had almost 150 people attend the in person event and we raised a grand total of over $30k for our ministries in Haiti!! God is good!!
So many people came together to make it happen and we wanted to give some shout outs!

The 10th Annual Hoedown for Haiti – 2025
Hello Friends –
As you may know Zacharie and I serve as directors of New Life Mission – Haiti, Inc. We were living in Haiti doing ministry fulltime until the fall of 2021 when we came back on furlough and could not return due to safety reasons. Unfortunately, the situation in Haiti has not improved and things continue to deteriorate.
We have been running a children’s home since 2019 in the town of Charrier where we were living and where our ministry focuses their efforts. This past summer gangs took over the town of Charrier and we had to evacuate the children from the home, our staff, and family members from the area. After they left the gangs entered our properties with dump trucks and have taken everything. They even killed our 4 dogs. This was 11+ years of fundraising to build the children’s home up and provide the kids with their daily needs … gone in one day. Needless to say, we are heartbroken.
One praise in the midst of heartache is that the kids, our staff, and family were able to get to safety. They have been living in Montrious on a compound with several different groups/families since leaving Charrier. Unfortunately this living arrangement is no longer working out and additionally, there are rumors of Montrious becoming unsafe again (it has been very volatile).
We have made the decision to move the children’s home, the staff, and the immediate family of the staff to Cap-Haitien. This area has remained safe over the past few years and we feel like it is the best move for us to make to create stability for the kids. This was not an easy decision as it comes with big costs. We will now have to pay rent on a property and purchase all the necessary household items, including appliances.
Please pray for us. We are frustrated and discouraged, to say the least. But we know that God’s hand is on the mission and we need to trust that he will provide. This year’s Hoedown will be very important in helping us meet the needs of the children’s home.

Silent Auction = The auction will be held online from Monday, October 13 until Thursday, October 16, 2024. It will be accessible through our website, but we will also send a direct link in the days before the event. We had some AWESOME items available last year and we cannot wait to share what this year’s will be!
Pork BBQ Dinner & Line Dancing = We are so excited to have the Hoedown dinner and line dancing event at the beautiful Copper Horse Barn (Ephrata, PA) on October 18, 2025. We will have a Pork BBQ meal with some delicious sides! After dinner there will be a chance to hear from our mission directors, Zacharie & Stevie Estime for an update on all things Haiti! THEN we will end our evening with line dancing with Boot Scootin’ Becky. Tickets are a suggested minimum donation of $35 per adult & $15 per child.

Maybe you have heard about Haiti in the news lately, but is it more likely that you have not. A quick google search will tell you that Haiti is experiencing a civil war. One that has torn the country apart and left its people hurt, homeless, hungry and hopeless. Since the president’s assassination in July of 2021 the country has spiraled into a leaderless nation with gangs vying for control over territory by burning down homes and killing those who stands in their way.
New Life Mission – Haiti, Inc. has been working in Haiti for almost 15 years. Our different ministries include a children’s home, community feeding programs, a school sponsorship program, and more. Though carrying out ministry during such a volatile time has been extremely difficult, God has always made a way for us to continue on in one way or another.
Our children’s home is currently a safe, nurturing home to 3 orphaned children and providing jobs to people from our community.
Our Loaves & Fishes Feeding Program provided thousands of meals to the community.
Our school sponsorship program helped 54 students attend school – 12 of those students graduated this past year.
In the midst of the chaos, miracles are still happening!
We will be holding our 10th annual Hoedown for Haiti fundraiser for New Life Mission Haiti – Inc this fall. A Virtual Silent Auction will be held from October 13-16, 2025. Then we will have the Hoedown for Haiti on October 18, 2025 at 6:00 pm at The Copper Horse venue in Ephrata, PA. There will be a dinner, line dancing, and an opportunity to hear an update on our ministries in Haiti. All money raised through these events will go directly toward New Life Mission programs – including the children’s home, our sponsorship program, feeding programs, and more.

The update we never wanted to have to give…
The day finally came. The day we hoped would never happen but knew was coming…Our family, kids and staff had to evacuate Charrier. Almost everyone in our town had to leave everything behind and run.
I had a hard time getting myself to write this email. I think that’s because writing it out and sharing it with more people makes it all the more real.
About two weeks ago we got the call that the gangs moved into LaChapelle, a town about 15 minutes from our compound in Haiti. We knew right away that we had to evacuate everyone. We arranged with Zacharie’s brother to have everyone go stay in his compound in Mountrious. The men stayed on the property and began preparations to depart. The women and children went to stay at someone’s house off the main road until daylight. They buried items underground that couldn’t be taken along but did not want to be stolen. They packed up the necessities and left at sunrise for Mountrious (a 2 hour drive). Praise the Lord, they made it safely there by midday the next day.
But what they left behind…We’ve shed a lot of tears for what they left behind. I’m trying to remind myself that belongings and buildings are just material things but you can imagine how hard it is to accept.
Soon after they left the gangs ripped through the neighborhood. Destroying some homes and occupying others. We were told that the children’s home and our personal home havent been bothered because they are far enough off the main road that gangs have not bothered with them, but they continue to be very vulnerable. Zacharie has a personal business however that is a big compound and is being used at the gang’s “hub.” It is also being used as a jail for their prisoners. The town down the road from us where we would go to market and the kids attended school has a police force and a group of locals committed to fighting against the gangs. They have been coming into Charrier day and night to fight for the area but the gangs are pushing back with vengeance. Many people have died. We’ve been told that they are throwing items from peoples homes into the street and burning it just out of spite. It’s devastating.
Here are our specific prayer requests right now:
1. For continued safety in Mountrious – the town is currently safe but this can change very quickly.
2. For protection over our property! That nothing would be stolen, broken or burned.
3. For our dogs that we had to leave behind – for their safety and for nourishment
4. For the hearts of the gangs to be transformed
5. For a Leader to be brought up in Haiti that has a heart for God, the people & the nation
6. For peace and provision over the entire country of Haiti
7. For guidance on how to proceed with our different ministries.
So what does this mean for New Life Mission? We had a board meeting last week and spent a lot of time crying, praying, and trying to answer that question…but this is what we decided: The Children’s Home is wherever the children are and the mission is for the people of Haiti therefore we are going to take one day at a time and wait on God’s leading on how to proceed. We do not know when we will be able to return home to Charrier but we know that our mission statement has not changed. Our goal to serve the people of Haiti can happen anywhere in the country.

Did you know that Haiti is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis? Since the assassination of their president in July 2021, gangs have slowly taken control over large parts of the country. Killings and kidnappings are regular occurrences. It is believed that over 700,000 people have been displaced from their homes. Most adults are unemployed due to the constant state of chaos and over half of the country struggle to feed themselves and their families on a daily basis. The conditions that these people are living in are simply unimaginable.
New Life Mission – Haiti, Inc.’s mission is to positively impact the spiritual, economic, and educational development of rural Haitian communities through the gospel of Christ by providing committed, competent services that meet the needs of the Haitian people while maintaining the integrity of the Haitian culture. We have been providing ministry to the community of Charrier, Haiti and surrounding communities for over 15 years. Our ministries include a children’s home, a school sponsorship program, and a community feeding program, among others. These types of ministries exist to provide basic human necessities but also to bring love and hope into such difficult circumstances.
We are holding our very first Bingo Fundraiser to raise money for our different ministries in Haiti. It will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at New Holland Fire Rescue from 2-5pm. We are looking for donations for the event.

Greetings on this Giving Tuesday!
Politics in Haiti – A recent article from apnews.com said, “Bloody coups, brutal dictatorships and gangs created by Haiti’s political and economic elite have long defined the country’s history, but experts say the current crisis is the worst they’ve seen.” A new prime minister was recently installed and Kenyan soldiers continue to attempt to provide aid to the country. It’s believed that 85% of the capital is controlled by gangs and hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced from their homes. Needless to say, it has been an incredibly hard year for Haiti without any signs of improvement. As easy as it is to be discouraged, we remain hopeful because in Christ we can find peace in the knowledge that He is in control!
Hoedown for Haiti – With the help of our amazing donors and volunteers the 2024 Hoedown for Haiti was a success! We were able to raise over $12,000 for New Life Children’s Home!

Loaves & Fishes Food Program – For the last year and a half we have been running the Loaves & Fishes program to provide meals to our community of Charrier, Haiti. We have been able to provide close to 30 meals and we’re hopeful to continue this program for as long as possible. Previously, we would have our Christmas meal fundraiser this time of year, but instead we will continue to raise funds for the Loaves & Fishes Program. We’ve been able to feed as many as 850 people per meal and our community of Charrier have expressed their deepest gratitude. Would you consider giving toward this program? Children’s Home – Our three kids – Claudelson (18), Pedline (12), and Asmalie (11) are all doing well. We are so thankful that they all are in good health and that the girls are doing very well in school. It’s been amazing to see their growth over the years. We’ve watched their faces fill out with proper nutrition and each time we get to see their faces on video calls, we’re thankful to know they are each being well taken care of by our awesome staff in our absence.

School Sponsorship Program – We are very thankful that even
though the situation in Haiti remains unstable and unpredictable, the
children in our sponsorship program have been able to attend school. It is an
incredible blessing to our families to be able to send their children to school.
It creates a sense of normalcy in a time of so much fear and unknown. We
currently have just over 50 children in the program.
**A note to our sponsors – Because of insecurity, Zacharie hasn’t been able to
travel to Haiti as regularly as needed so we are continuing to gather updated
photos and letters from our children. We hope to send them out to you
before the end of this year!
Our Mission’s Directors, Zacharie & Stevie Estime, want to extend their gratitude to all who have prayed for them during these last few months. Stevie’s health is improving however she isn’t out of the woods yet, so they ask for your continued prayers. We also mentioned in our last newsletter that they needed to find a new home. We are happy to share that they were able to find a house and moved in November. Thank you for joining us in prayer over their living situation!
